I graduated Lincoln high school in 2014, and married my high school sweetheart in May 2015. We have a beautiful baby boy, and are expecting our second baby boy in September of 2018. I come from a big family – I am the youngest of six. My lovely mother had three boys and three girls. I have 10 nieces and nephews, and we all live on the south side of Des Moines within five minutes of each other. You could say we are a pretty close family. We are constantly together, whether it’s hanging out at each other’s houses, or taking the kids out to play. My family means everything to me.

I’ve been working in the chiropractic industry for almost two years. I got my first job working part time for a chiropractor after I had my first baby, which was great since I was adjusting going back to work. Before working there I never knew the true meaning of chiropractic care. One of the biggest things I have learned is chiropractic care is not about “cracking bones”. It’s all about making sure the spine is aligned so there is no swelling, and messages from the nerves are getting sent to the brain. It’s funny how in tune you are with your body after you learn what’s REALLY going on and WHY it’s happening.

The best part of my job would honestly be witnessing the wonders of adjustments. I have seen patients carried into the office, and after their adjustment they were able to walk on their own. I’m lucky to be able to work alongside two amazing chiropractors, and be able to learn something new every day. I love the work I do, and I couldn’t be more blessed to have such a great work environment, co-workers, and of course our patients!

Hi! I graduated from Roland-Story High School in 2013, from DMACC with a Liberal Arts degree in 2014, and went to Iowa State University for Marketing and English from 2014-2018. I grew up outside of Story City, Iowa on a beautiful acreage with two younger sisters (Shannon and Caityln), and my mom and dad (Chris and Julie). My sister Shannon and I both live in Ames, and my parents work in Ames. We see each other a lot which is great. There are lots of lunches and shopping trips to keep us occupied and together.

My partner (Houston) is in the National Guard, and is set to deploy in October of 2019. We spend a lot of time playing with my dog and cat (Bear & Jasper). Bear is a yellow lab and is very energetic while Jasper is lazy and cuddly. Also in my free time I like to cook, bake, spend time with family, and spend time at Cornerstone and Keystone churches.

Before working at Hassel Family Chiropractic, I had never been to a chiropractic office. I never found the value in chiropractic work, or felt the desire to make an appointment. Since working here, I have learned so much about chiropractic care and the value it has on your body. I never knew your spine had so much to do with how the rest of your body functions. I saw this come to life when I had a really bad cold; headache, runny nose, stuffy nose, etc. I was all around miserable. Dr. Gillies told me it was because the vertebra in my neck were irritating the nerves, causing bad allergies and sinus issues. By getting adjusted twice a day, three times a week, my cold was gone within 2 days. I have never seen anything like it before.

The best part of my job is learning so much and seeing results in our patients. Patients walk out of the office feeling great and in better moods. It is so eye-opening to work with amazing chiropractors who care about their patients, and are passionate about what they do. Dr. Hassel and Dr. Gillies have taught me so much about living a healthy lifestyle, and continue to teach me something new every day. I love working with our patients, doctors, and co-workers.
